An interview with Jen Sincero

An interview with Jen Sincero

What does Posh Seven have in common with The New York Times, Cosmopolitan and O The Oprah Magazine? We all feature the best selling author Jennifer Sincero! Jen took time out of her fabulous and financially rewarding life to talk with me about her soon to be released new book “You Are a Badass At Making Money”. The book is very honest and hilarious as she recaps her previous financial woes with stories of dead end jobs and never ending financial struggles. Now living in her dream home instead of the garage where she once resided, she gave me some great insight into what was the motivation behind her writing the book.

The author has led a colorful life so far as a life coach, speaker, rock musician and house sitter which were the inspirations behind a few of her other books “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living”, “Don’t Sleep With Your Drummer” and “The Straight Girl’s Guide to Sleeping With Chicks”. Prior to becoming a best selling author, she enjoyed modest success as a coach but knew she wasn’t living up to her full potential, or at least her full financial potential.

“You Are a Badass at Making Money” wants to strip the notion that money is evil and wanting to be rich makes us evil greedy monsters. It has been instilled in so many of us that the subject of making money is taboo, something we shouldn’t talk about and she wants to change that. We all need money to survive and wanting more for ourselves doesn’t mean we are taking it from others. She wants her readers to go for it and stop apologizing for their dreams of financial success.Lose the guilt and to ask yourself what are you afraid of? She stresses that knowing what you want and focusing on that is essential and to take it very seriously. Listen to your heart instead of the doubts in your head.

Since Posh Seven is a magazine for women, I asked her if she thought men and women have a different mindset on making money and her answer was “absolutely!” Men were traditionally raised to be breadwinners and were naturally expected to make money. Women have bigger hurdles to overcome but she had some great advice. She wants us to share resources, surround ourselves with supportive people and for women to give themselves permission to make money. The good news is that it has become easier for women to achieve financial security and independence and opportunities continue to increase.

She tells the mom with that entrepreneurial spirit to go for it and have fun, it doesn’t have to be hard! In addition to the honesty and humor of the book, part of the appeal of “You Are a Badass at Making Money” is it’s lack of pretension. No stodgy economists spewing forecasts of world currencies, no mention of money markets, IRAs or stock fluctuations.

She isn’t advising you on how to make money rather just telling you it’s OK to do so. We talked about “Universal Intelligence” and how it plays into making money. Jen explained to me that the Universe is energetic and our thoughts are powerful and give off an energy. Knowing exactly what you want and staying focused on your desires draws the right kind of energy into your life.

“You Are a Badass at Making Money” comes out in April and the book tour begins in New York on April 18. To purchase the book or any other of Jen’s cheeky works please visit jensincero. com If you are interested in meeting her in person, find her tour schedule here: jensincero.com/tour
