Strong is the new skinny.
I have to be honest, I was a little biased in trying out [solidcore]. When I lived in Los Angeles, I tried a similar workout after following a group of badass looking women into a building…seriously that happened. I watched these women with the strongest bodies (visualize lean and toned) I have ever seen walk into a studio and decided I needed to do what they were doing. With that being said, when I moved back to the DMV area, I was happy to find [solidcore] and their method.
Okay, now here is the down and dirty: It will be the hardest workout you have ever done. Period. I don’t care if you are a cross-fit champ, a marathon runner or a hard-core gym rat, this workout will humble you and bring you to your knees. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? It is! I love a challenge both physically and mentally and [solidcore] will give you both.
The class consists of a Pilates-like reformer that you use for a full body workout consisting of lunges, squats, planks, arms, and abs. Using controlled movements on the resistance-based machine, you will work slow and fast to get your muscles to the point of failure. The body can then work to repair the ripped muscles, which is when they become leaner, longer and stronger – creating noticeable tone and definition in the body. The moves resemble common exercises you already do like planks, lunges and squats, your body and mind will be challenged in each and every class. The class is 50 minutes long. Your instructor will blast awesome music and coach you through each move with enthusiasm and support. At the end of class you will walk (or crawl) out of the door and wonder how fast you can sign up for the next one.
The company is local to DC and Anne M. Mahlum is the owner and CEO of [solidcore]. She founded the company in DC in 2013. In just over three years, Anne has grown her company to 10 locations with more than 50,000 clients, including Mrs. Michelle Obama and now Ivanka Trump. We see a very bright future for Ms. Mahlum. She is on to something here.
If you have heard of [solidcore] and feel a little intimidated, don’t be. Every person in that studio will feel the exact same pain as you, doesn’t matter if it is your 1st or 50th class, this workout equalizes everyone.
Strong is the new skinny and [solidcore] will help you get there! It is not cheap a single class will run you $37. They do offer bundle packages and the monthly fee will run you about $300 a month when you sign up for the year.
