Ahhh fall… can you feel it ladies? There’s nothing quite like it, especially here in Northern Virginia, where the leaves turn crimson and the air becomes refreshingly crisp! But besides the changing leaves, perhaps my favorite thing about fall is the changing fashions. And I don’t know about you, but I get a little tired of the same ol’ stores at the mall, and instead I like to delve into something a little more unique, and I’ve found a couple of really cool local fashion sources that you’re gonna want to check out. To me, fall fashion isn’t just about furry boots and parkas. This season, there are tons of trends that push the boundaries of what is fall fashion, and one of my favorites is athleisure. For those of you that have yet to explore this amazing trend, athleisure is a hybrid of casual wear and athletic – and is rapidly becoming the “new casual” the epitome of low maintenance fashion, and who doesn’t want that?
Local yoga teacher and fashionista Ami Dodd is heading up this awesome trend right here in NOVA.

Ami’s pop up boutique Energie makes its debut in Reston from October through December. This fun and funky pop up has a relaxed urban vibe that speaks to the yogi in all of us. Ami blends her love for yoga and fashion into this Zen space which features the best of Athleisure for women, men and even for the mini-me in your life.

Energie features “it” brands like Spiritual Gangster – who specialize in cool slogan tees which are all the rage right now, leggings by Jiva,
which actually have an SPF of 50 in them, so you don’t have to worry about frying your lovely gams as you tool around town- and original pieces like these edgy skull leggings by Onzie. Ami’s mission is to spread a sense of good vibes and community to everyone who comes into her store, while exposing people to small and up and coming labels they may not have heard of. Go ahead and pop into this fashionable sanctuary and you’ll be saying “Namaste,” all day!
Now, if you’re interested in upping your weekend wardrobe game, and really who isn’t, may I suggest you check out this new boutique in Great Falls called Misguided Angels?
And, don’t let the name fool you, the pieces at this gem of a boutique will guide you in all the right directions! Whether it’s for date night, a girl’s night out, or just some weekend fun, this boutique has a little something for everyone, without breaking the bank, or skimping on quality. Owner Kim Hutchings just opened her Great Falls store this year, and her flagship store in Brambleton Town Center has been open since 2010, and is still going strong. Misguided Angels is another great place to find unique, one of a kind pieces like this cold shoulder top by Chase, these yummy fall staples by Elan, and pieces by Veronica M, like this stunning floral dress.
Kim also features jeans by Silver, and shoes like these sexy boots by Steve Madden’s Freebird line (yes, cowboy boots are back ladies!). She also features a wide selection of fun jewelry like these gorgeous cuffs, also very much in for fall. And, as an added bonus, you may get a “Tilly” sighting, Kim’s adorable pooch who clearly shares her passion for fashion.
