Feelings about how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed your senior year: I understand why schools have closed, but understanding doesn’t make it feel much better. At first I was upset because of the obvious things I would be missing, like prom, decision day, and the senior trip, but after a while I could accept that. Now I’m just disappointed that, for a lot of us, there won’t be much closure for the last 12 years. After eight years of lacrosse, I won’t be able to walk down the track with my parents on senior night, and I won’t be able to give one last go on the field. I’m sad I won’t be able to walk the halls of the high school as a student again. I know it’s good that Virginia responded so quickly to the virus, but all the same, I wish someone could have told me that the day before cancellation would be my last day of high school. I would have appreciated it more, said goodbye to my teachers, and just savored the experience of high school. I don’t even remember what I was doing on my last day.
