Alicia Witt

Meet Alicia Witt, the incredibly talented and beautiful singer, songwriter and actress. Posh Seven is always in search of talented, accomplished women to interview, So when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance to speak with one of Hollywood’s most gifted actresses and musicians. I was lucky enough to talk with Alicia about not only her fantastic acting career but also about her new album 15,000 Days and the musical tour that would have her performing across the United States and Canada.

Discovered by the great filmmaker David Lynch, Alicia was cast as Alia Atreides in the movie ‘Dune.’ That childhood role brought her much attention, and her career flourished from there with some very memorable and impressive roles. She has starred in blockbusters such as ‘Last Holiday’ with Queen Latifah, ‘Two Weeks Notice’ with Sandra Bullock and ‘88 Minutes’ with Al Pacino. My personal favorite is that of Hadley, where Alicia plays the headstrong daughter of Joan Allen in the film ‘The Upside of Anger,’ which also stars Kevin Costner.

In addition to the big screen, Alicia is well known for her television roles in popular series such as ‘Nashville,’ ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent,’ ‘The Mentalist’ and as Zoey, Cybil Shepard’s daughter in the CBS hit sitcom ‘Cybil.’ Alicia admitted one of her most satisfying roles and profound experiences was her participation with the acclaimed series ‘Walking Dead.’ Fans of ‘Orange is the New Black’ can look forward to seeing Alicia play Ivy Leaguer Zelda this summer on the series’ final season. Alicia wasn’t able to share too much information with me about her character but promises Zelda will certainly make an impression on viewers.

Some of her other credits include roles in ‘House of Lies,’ ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Supernatural.’ Alicia has also had great success on stage with roles in ‘Reasons to be Pretty’ performed in Los Angeles at the Geffen Playhouse, ‘Piano/Forte’ at London’s Royal Court Theatre and in numerous plays on and off-Broadway in New York City.

Alicia was born in Worcester, Massachusetts where she was trained as a classical pianist and recalled how music was her first love. Even with all her success as an actress she always kept her musical career alive and has often performed vocally with many of her roles. She feels lucky that she is now able to promote her artistic talents while on a short hiatus from her acting commitments. 15,000 Days, which was produced by Grammy Award winner Jacquire King, was released in August 2018.

Alicia senses the album is her game changer, something she has worked hard for in her musical career, proving that her talent extends beyond her acting. The songs are honest, heartfelt and compelling, and speak of relationships, freedoms and about taking chances. She believes others will connect to the lyrics and the experiences she writes about.

The whirlwind musical tour back in May brought her across the United States and Canada and delivered Alicia to Songbyrd, Washington’s most exquisite music house. Alicia’s musical journey, one that took years, is unveiled with 15,000 Days and declares it as another chapter in a story that is still unfolding.
