I don’t know about you, but I love to listen to people talk about food. Radio food podcasts capture and celebrate the simple, day-to-day small talk everyone has in the kitchen, or at the dinner table. It taps right into the emotional connection we have with what we eat. When I first discovered these podcast programs via NPR, WNYC, and the New York Times, I was a little skeptical. I’m a big food and wine documentary follower — Could podcasts compete? But food podcasts are in another realm. One reason is that language on podcasts can be more visceral and meditative. Like when Top Chef author, model, and celebrity Padma Lakshmi sat and talked with food journalists on Radio Cherry Bombe about her culinary chops, you could quietly hear her noshing on something yummy. Or, when actor Seth Rogan on Bon Appétit Foodcast admitted he’s trying to eat healthier… but the nachos. It tickles the audible sensory to listen, and it’s all in delicious fun!

Burnt ToastBURNT TOAST is a podcast from Food52 for people who never stop wondering about food. Join John Wilbur, plus a rotating cast of guests, for controversial cooking topics, food culture, and occasional good spirited debate. Part of the Panoply Network.

America's Test KitchenAMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN on NPR takes place in a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Their mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. They test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times until they arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most fool-proof recipe.
