Current Job/Company: Analyst / Owner of AJ’s Tasting Room / Freelance Writer
One word that best describes your work pace: Methodical

Tell us a little about your background and how you got here.

I am originally from a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia and served in the Army for 10 years as an Intelligence Analyst. I traveled all over the world with the military and I loved almost every minute of it. I retired out of Fort Hood, Texas and moved to Northern Virginia in 2011 for business opportunities.

Take us through typical day.

My days start pretty early in the morning. I wake up between 3:00 and 3:30AM and I have my coffee to go. During my commute time, I listen to books on Audible. I typically arrive to work around 5:00am in order to avoid traffic. During my afternoon commute, I make business and return personal calls. After normal business hours, I put on my other hats for mother and business owner. My company reviews wineries, distilleries, and breweries, so there is no better way to end the day! I am also a new contributor for PoshSeven Magazine, so I conduct research for articles in between my son’s basketball games and track meets. After dinner, I catch up on one Hulu show and discuss the day with my son.

What apps, gadgets, or tools do

Amazon, Maps, and the Find Friends App (shhh…don’t tell my son)

What’s your office setup like?

I have a home office for AJ’s Tasting Room and freelance writing. My home is my “stress-free” zone and the ambience is continued in the office space. Decorated with rustic wood and feminine fabrics, it certainly isn’t a chore to work in the space!

What’s your best time-saving shortcut?

My son is vegetarian and I am pescatarian. With our busy schedules, I have subscribed to a vegan meal delivery kit. My son and I have 3 healthy meals per day and on the weekends we make home-cooked meals. Best. Idea. Ever.

Who are the people who help you get things done, and how do you rely on them?

My soon to be 17-year old son Prince helps out tremendously. He makes sure our French Bulldogs (Gaston and Lafayette) are taken care of. He also has a list of chores for the household that he has to complete weekly. Now that he’s a licensed driver, he helps with an errand or two as well.

How do you keep track of your to-do lists?

I alternate I between the notepad on my phone that synchs to my laptop, and my notebook for the times I don’t have access to technology.

What’s your least favorite thing to do, and how do you deal?

Pumping gas. I wish there were a gas fairy that comes in the night and fills up the car. Since that isn’t a viable option, I gas up on my way to work on Monday for the week and Friday for the weekend.

Do you take Posh timeouts? What do you do when you want to forget about work?

Absolutely! For a quick timeout, turn on the lavender scented diffuser while I listen to the sounds of rain. It’s very relaxing.

What are you currently reading, or what’s something you’d recommend?

I am currently listening to “Becoming” by Michelle Obama

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Have the courage to live a life true to yourself, not the life others expect of you.

Is there anything else you’d like to add that might be interesting to readers and fans?

Wait 24 hours before getting mad and reacting about anything. If it doesn’t bother you in 24 hours’ time, it probably isn’t important enough to get mad over.
