I am originally from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. My education and training have taken me to many parts of the country. I have worked side by side and train with leaders and experts in my field. I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine with honors, and in the top 5% of my class. I went on to receive my specialty training from the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. I continued subspecialty surgical training in Mohs Skin Cancer Surgery with Facial Reconstructive Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery in New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego, California.

I received my MBA from George Washington University. After working in private practice in New York for a few years, my husband, Dr. Marlon Maragh, and I relocated to the DMV area to realize my dream of opening my practice. I have been in the world of Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery for nearly 20 years now! It has been an amazing journey as we have opened our three centers, two in Virginia and one in Maryland. My greatest joy in life is my family, my husband, and our three beautiful, amazing children.

One word that best describes your work place:
Captivating. Every patient presents a new and interesting case.

Take us through a typical day.
I start every day with prayer and devotion to prepare me for whatever the day may bring. I am an exercise junky! I exercise five to six days a week to get my body moving for the day. I mix my workouts with cardio and strength training. I get my day started at the office early at 7:30 am. My workdays are fast-paced and require a lot of physical energy and mental clarity, so exercise is essential for me. My commute time is my “no stress time.” I do not take business calls, and I try to clear my mind while on the way to work or traveling home. I usually enjoy silence, devotion, or listen to my favorite Smooth Jazz station. When I get back in the evening, ‘it’s “Go Time!” Dinner, homework, catching up on the day with my four favorite people, and preparing for the next day. Friday nights are dedicated “Family Night.” Saturdays and Sundays are a combination of work, sports, birthday parties, family, relaxing, and church to round out the weekend.

What makes you different from others in your industry?
Most patients need to have procedures that provide maximal results with minimal downtime. We take pride in the fact that our centers have always been able to provide the latest, most advanced technology in minimally invasive surgical procedures and laser technology to our patients over the last 10+ years. Whether treating skin cancer on the face or addressing a cosmetic concern such as facial rejuvenation or body contouring, our centers stay ahead with providing the best options in the industry to our patients.

What is your favorite procedure to perform?
My favorite procedures to perform are facial rejuvenation and body contouring. I consider my work art. I guide my patients in helping them to develop healthy, beautiful looking skin. It may be facial reconstruction for a patient that I have removed a skin cancer from or a patient that simply wants to improve their face or body appearance through laser or minimally invasive surgery. I enjoy the ability to use my knowledge, skills and creativity, along with guidance from my patients, to help them achieve their goal.

Who are the people who help you get things done, and how do you rely on them?
Where do I start? I am blessed to have a truly amazing support system both at work and at home. My husband, Marlon, is truly my other half. We are a team. He is my main cheerleader in life. He is a physician and a part of our practice also so he understands the stress, the good days, the bad days, and the balance of work and home. We keep each other grounded. Whether its homework, haircuts, pediatrician appointments, fevers, dinners, birthday parties, etc. he’s always got my back. I have amazing parents and in-laws that are like “bonus parents” that help us with our kids along with our nannies. It makes a world of difference to have amazing people that help to make sure your children are safe and happy while you are at work. My office administrative and medical team are like my second family. I work with a group of smart, amazing, compassionate women and men. Many of them have been with me for 10+ years. I rely on them all to help our days go smoothly at the offices. Team Maragh!

Do you take Posh timeouts? What do you do when you want to forget about work?
When I want to forget about work, I spend quality time with Ally Love on my Peloton. A 45 minute Tabata ride will make you forget everything!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of advice ‘I’ve ever received is to make sure I keep balance in my life between work and home. I enjoy having my practice tremendously and truly feel that I have been blessed to be doing exactly what I was born to do as a physician and business owner. I put a lot of effort and time into it. As we have grown, I have learned to make sure that I am still mentally and physically available to my family to spend quality time with them. My kids are growing so fast, and I ‘don’t want to miss any of it!

Is there anything else you’d like to add that might be interesting to readers and fans?
Our family loves to travel. We love going to different countries to immerse ourselves in the local culture. It is also a quality time for us to spend as a family and with close friends. We are all bilingual with Spanish as our second language; our children from birth and Marlon and me from school. The last few summers we’ve spent time with our children traveling to different Spanish-speaking countries to immerse ourselves in the culture and language. A tradition we plan to continue. The kids are learning French now, so we are excited to see what adventures will take us on. Oui, oui! My husband and I are also car enthusiasts and enjoy spending some weekends traveling to local and international car events. We have met amazing people from all over the world at these events. I’ve even run into some of my patients in other countries at these events – small world! My absolute favorite pastime is shoes!
