I was born and raised in the metropolitan Washington, DC area, and received my undergraduate biology degree with honors from the University of Maryland, College Park. I ventured off and moved to Boston for dental school when I was accepted into Harvard School of Dental Medicine. I received my Doctorate of Dental Medicine, cum laude, in 2003 and completed my pediatric dental residency at Children’s Hospital, Boston, in 2005.

When it was time to settle down, start a family, and build my practice, I was ready to return to the DC area and moved to Loudoun County. We found the space to build the practice in Ashburn and established our family roots in Leesburg. We opened our doors in January 2006 and added orthodontic services in 2009 when Dr. Courtney Ullrich joined the practice. Together, Mike and I are raising four active kids – Olivia, Gavin, Grayson, and Asher, and two dogs – Willow and Paisley. I love to run and can often be seen on the W&OD Trail and participating in area races ranging from a 5k to a marathon.

One word that best describes your work place:
Dynamic and Energized

What woman inspires you, and why?
I have learned so many beautiful and life-altering lessons from reading several of Brené Brown’s books, watching her compelling presentations, and listening to her podcasts. She has a way with words that inspire you to embrace who you are unabashedly, authentically, courageously, and wholeheartedly. She discusses so many compelling truths that have helped me through challenging seasons in my life as a woman, mom, wife, sister, friend, and business owner.

What is your best time-saving shortcut?
I am a creature of habit. I have a morning and evening routine where I plan and reflect on my day and stick to it (even on the weekends). From setting out my workout clothes the night before to tracking my water intake, to making my bed daily, it helps set the tone for my day from beginning to end and allows me to remain focused on my goals and tasks and live in the present with intention and purpose.

How do you keep track of your to-do lists?
I love goal planning and to-do lists. Even though I rely on my phone and Google calendar for almost everything related to my family and business, I still prefer to use a journal to track my goals and to-do lists. I refer to them daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly to evaluate my progress.

Do you take Posh timeouts?
What do you do when you want to forget about work?
Absolutely! I think self-care is essential to be your best self and recharge. My favorite thing to do is to go for a run early in the morning while my family is still sleeping. It’s my time to be, my time to reflect, my time where I find peace. I also enjoy strength training and getting massages, especially in my line of work, since my posture isn’t always ideal. These Posh timeouts help me stay healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually so I can continue to do what I love and be the best version of myself.

What are you currently reading, or what’s something you’d recommend?
I love any of Brené Brown’s books and recently finished Gifts of Imperfection and Dare to Lead, Mindset by Carol Dweck, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight.

Is there anything else you’d like to add that might be interesting to readers and fans?
In one word: SMILE. See Miracles In Life Every day! I believe that we are blessed with so many everyday miracles that we don’t pause regularly enough to recognize them. I try to remind myself, my family, my patients, and my team to use their smile to change the world; don’t let the world change your smile. We strive to live by the simple, yet compelling premise in our practice that no smile, deed, or act of kindness is too small…you never know what ripple effect you can have on someone else’s life…so continue to smile, be grateful, be kind, and the best version of yourself! It could change someone’s life, including your own. It doesn’t matter if it’s one person or thousands, a smile is free, infectious, and leaves a positive and lasting impression on this world.
