POSH SEVEN SAT DOWN WITH SOME OF OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT ARE BRINGING NEW, YOUTHFUL, BEAUTY TRENDS TO LOUDOUN COUNTY.
Dr. Nukta of NOVA Plastic Surgery was happy to talk to us about IV Vitamin therapy. There has been a lot of discussion about the potential benefit of vitamin infusions and who is benefitting from intravenous vitamin injections. In fact, Dr. Nukta says that it is becoming one of their most common services. Their typical client is a healthy individual interested in improving their overall health. Often it is administered once month, some come in even more often. There is no recovery time associated with this procedure. People with kidney problems and allergies to Vitamin B1 are not eligible to receive this treatment. Though many clients come in regularly for the service there is also the option of using IV Vitamin therapy when getting over illness, feeling jetlagged, dehydrated, or recovering from a long night out. Dr. Nukta even offers the ability to pair it with a Vampire facial and receive only one stick of the needle for both procedures.
Nese Altas of Current Salon and Color Bar spoke to us about the growing trend in hair treatments called “Hair Botox”. Botox is credited with reversing the aging process on facial wrinkles, Hair Botox boasts the ability to bring hair back to life by not only straightening, and hydrating your hair, but also reversing damage by mending hair follicles and producing thicker, shinier, stronger hair. Hair Botox is not administered through needles, but rather a shampoo like treatment. Hair Botox is a protein rich product that offers a deep conditioning mask that can be used on all hair types.
It does not contain the harmful chemicals that have been associated with other straightening treatments. The Hair Botox treatment can last for between two and four months. Though, it does not claim to completely straighten curly hair, it does work with the natural texture of your hair to make it more radiant and easier to manage.
Dr. Sherry Maragh of Northern Virginia Dermatology, Vein & Surgery Center and Shady Grove Dermatology, Laser & Vein Institute opened up to us about Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). We have all heard that women “over a certain age” should cut their hair short. As we age, our hair often becomes thinner. The platelet rich plasma (PRP) contains highly concentrated growth factors and proteins that are essential in producing repair and rejuvenation. It is produced from the patient’s own blood. By obtaining a small sample of blood, it is centrifuged down to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. Not only can it trigger growth stimulation in hair follicles, it can also be used in skin to improve fine lines, wrinkles, reduction of scars, skin pigmentation and improve skin laxity. It is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure with little to no downtime with proven results for healthier skin and hair growth. The procedure averages about one hour but can vary depending on the size of the area being treated. Dr. Maragh recommends a patient receive a series of four treatment sessions every four weeks for the first four months. A follow-up every three to six months helps to maintain longer lasting results.
Dr. Chang of Aesthetica Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center, Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa, and Medi-Weightloss was kind enough to speak to Posh about the procedure that every “Real Housewife” of the Bravo Network has been seen discussing. We are speaking of vaginal rejuvenation. It is a hot topic these days not only in reality television, but amongst women everywhere. Dr. Chang said that the diVa Laser for vaginal rejuvenation has revolutionized the treatment of both physical cosmetic, and sensual care of the female genital area. This is because with one treatment, the diVa has been shown to be extremely effective in treating stress urinary incontinence, the vaginal dryness and irritation that comes with menopause, and vaginal laxity. What is amazing is the results have not been subtle; instead, they have been overwhelmingly positive. Patients who reported that they used to pee every time they coughed or sneezed say that they do not have to worry about this anymore. Women who say that intercourse was painful due to dryness and irritation are thankful and amazed with the return of their sensuality. Women who reported an increase in vaginal laxity with age say that things are more than a little “tighter” down there. For the women treated so far, 90% have reported an 80-90% improvement in these parameters. It has minimal down time. It is normally sold in a package of three treatments. Each treatment is to be done one month apart.
The Fountain of Youth is something that we continue to seek. Though it once was believed to be a magical body of water, thanks to modern medicine we are more often finding it in the offices and spas of local experts. We thank Dr. Nukta, Ryan Mallard, Dr. Maragh and Dr. Chang for providing information about the latest beauty trends that we at Posh Seven have been curious about.
