Loudoun county residents of all ages are encouraged to join the library sending valentines and cards to our community’s nursing home and assisted living residents, many of whom continue to be isolated due to the pandemic. Drawings, photos and words of encouragement are ideal. You can also stop by your local library to pick up cards to fill out. All letters will be screened and quarantined prior to distribution to centers accepting them. Thank you for sharing the love during this time of need! The Hunt for George Washington

Celebrate the birthday of our first president of the United States, George Washington. Uncover clues about George Washington with this fun and challenging scavenger hunt. The game takes approximately one hour to complete, and will take you to places associated with George Washington. Start by printing a clue sheet at home and bring it with you as you traverse the heart of Old Town Alexandria and use your sleuthing skills to find answers to the clues. Submit your findings by February 28 th, to receive a prize. Try other activities planned honoring George Washington the whole month of February such as voting on your favorite cherry inspired recipes at local restaurants, virtual events including lectures discussing various periods of his life, online programs featuring performances and musicians, a virtual re-creation of his birthday in the ballroom of Gatsby’s Tavern, and much more. McLean Uncorked

Four unique wines for this tasting are available to pre-purchase by registrants at Balducci’s in McLean, Virginia. Fun with Polymer Clay

DIY Craft Club – Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day Carriage Rides

Celebrate the season of love with a ride along the twinkling streets of Reston Town Center. Departures are in front of the Pavilion Ice Rink. Masks must be worn while waiting, and riding in the carriage. Bring your own blankets to stay warm. Following each ride, the carriage will be sanitized in preparation for the next booking. Reservations are required for all groups, and a donation of $30 per group is being collected that goes directly to the nonprofit, Cornerstones. LOVE Works
Virginia has taken its’ iconic slogan, “Virginia is for Lovers” and turned it into art pieces throughout the state of Virginia creating a fun and safe way to explore Virginia. With over two hundred LOVEworks signs located around the state, LOVE can be found in every corner. These large signs spell LOVE with giant letters in creative designs, and create the perfect backdrop for a great photo or the opportunity to explore new parts of the state. While most of the artists are local, the program has worked with artists across the country and around the world, creating some of the most engaging and photographed murals in the region. George Washington’s Virtual Birthday Party

Donations requested and all proceeds from this event will support the restoration and preservation of George Washington’s beloved home, Mount Vernon.
